Barrel stave races
Start at 8.30 pm on the Gampele. The long pieces of wood you see in the making of barrels (so-called staves) can also be used as a version of skis. They are attached to the boots with leather or plastic straps. Firm, bolted bindings such as the ones used on Alpine skis are not allowed.
Wednesdays
Rubber stamp game: ‘Search for Siggi’
Every Wednesday, children and youngsters can join in and win the most hilarious rubber stamp game this side of the Alps: plaques with Siggi are hidden on the pistes, behind trees, at Alpine huts and other places where Galtür cableway staff have found an intriguing spot. Rubber stamppasses are available from the Birkhahnbahn ticket offices or from the Silvretta Galtür ski school. Once the pass has been filled in and your sportsmanship has been confirmed,as it were, Siggi will be handing out little prizes after 3.15 pm from the stage at the Alpkogelbahn valley terminal. And he always has plenty of new ideas!

Thursdays
Guiding Pieps
Meeting Point: 11.45 am ski school assembly area. The right way to go about freeriding. An introduction to avalanche awareness, snow profile readings as well as the correct use of avalanche search devices and probes … with everyone welcome to attend. Costs: EUR 34. Free for everyone attending ski school.
Speed run with photo
1.30-3 pm on the speedway in sector 03. Use at your own risk. Get a snapshot after your top all-time sporting achievement! From 4.30 pm in the Galtür cableway office in the village centre.
Ski safari
The first snow safari in the world. We ride on snowmobiles to the Kops reservoir, our starting point for a highly diverse downhill run through woodland to the village of Partenen in the Montafon. From there we ride the Vermunt cableway up to an altitude of 1,739 m where we take minibuses through a stretch of tunnel up to the Bieler Höhe. Costs: € 43,00 (with valid ski pass) include skiing instructor, rides on Galtür and Vermunt cableways, the tunnel taxi and the tow lift at the Silvretta reservoir. Registrations accepted at Silvretta Galtür ski school!

Snowblades and twin-tip skis for a daily rental fee of EUR 10.

Children’s ski races
Fridays here are just like the Winter Olympics. With electronically timed races, awards ceremonies underpinned by music, medals and the victor’s trophy. Meeting point: ski school assembly area. Registrations: ski school office.
